Symptoms of gastrointestinal diseases due to toxins or infections caused by bacteria, viruses, parasites etc. can be called gastrointestinal infectious diseases. Pathogens such as Staphylococcus aureus, Enterohemorrhagic E. coli, Vibrio cholerae, Rotavirus, Helicobacter pylori, Hepatitis A or E viruses may be transmitted through unsanitary food, water, saliva or droplets, which may cause gastrointestinal symptoms.
